About Willows Before and After School Program

Willows provides a warm, extended family environment where students can complete homework, play, and connect with classmates and school friends until they are picked up by a parent or guardian. Designed to offer professional care, supervision, and enrichment, the program includes a variety of structured activities such as arts and crafts, games, recreation, homework time, and snacks.

Our experienced and dedicated staff work together with a shared goal: to ensure a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for every child entrusted to our care.

    Registration & Fees

Willows is an integral part of the school program and operates under the direct supervision of the school principal. The program is fully funded through the fees collected for extended care services, with all finances managed through the school’s accounting system. All students enrolled in Willows are covered under the school’s insurance policy.

Registration for Willows is free of charge for families currently enrolled at St. David of Wales Catholic School. However, to use the program, parents/guardians must pay hourly fees. Fees are automatically billed through Brightwheel based on the hours attended during the previous month and are charged on the 15th of each month.

    • Standard rate: $7.00 per hour, per child

    • Minimum day rate (12:00 PM – 2:45 PM): $4.00 per hour, per child

Late payments (after the 15th) may result in the student's temporary suspension from the Willows program.

If a child remains at school after 6:00 PM, a late fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged. Additionally, any child not picked up within 10 minutes after regular school dismissal will be signed into Willows and must remain there until signed out by an authorized parent or guardian.

    Facilities

Willows is located in Rose Mello Hall at 871 Sonoma Street, with the entrance situated directly below the school office. For drop-off and pick-up, please park in the churchyard or pull in front of the black gate near the main office to help maintain the smooth flow of morning and afternoon traffic.

Per state regulations, daily sign-outs are required for all students.

Please note: If a child leaves the school grounds, they are not permitted to return and sign into the Willows program later that day.

In addition, individuals who wish to support the work of the PTG, but do not currently have children enrolled, are welcomed as Friends of the PTG and are also invited to participate.

  • Expectations of Volunteers:

    • Support the school in creating a community of acceptance through empathy and inclusion, and to actively encourage their child to be a positive member of the school.

    • Have a responsibility to participate in anti-bullying awareness training.

    • Parents/Guardians/Volunteers who become aware that their child is being teased, excluded or bullied, or who suspect that their child may be the perpetrator of bullying, should contact the teacher or principal immediately.

    • Parents/Guardians/Volunteers who serve as yard duty supervisors or classroom volunteers have the same responsibility as staff to monitor students, and report acts of teasing, bullying, and exclusion.

    Requirements:

    • TB Skin test (renewed every 2 years): California State Law requires that anyone doing volunteer work at school must undergo a tuberculin, PPD, skin test. Verification that volunteers are free from this condition should be brought to the office. This test must be repeated every two years to ensure our personal health and that of our children.

    • Virtus certificate (renewed every 3 years): The Oakland Diocesan Safe Environment for Children Project has been developed in cooperation with the Oakland Diocesan Presbyteral Council in compliance with the adoption of the Charter for Protection of Children and Young People developed at the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, June 2002. Adherence to the policy and implementation of the project is a mandate from Bishop Barber.

      • Print the certificate of completion at the conclusion of the training and bring a copy to school office

    • Live Scan (one-time): All volunteers must have a completed Live Scan (fingerprinted for a background check) through the Oakland Diocese. All volunteers who work at the school site or in school sponsored activities must be screened pursuant to the identification process established under California’s Megan’s law. If you need to look up locations for Live Scan services, please contact the office.

If you have a volunteer who has already completed the above requirements for another ministry within the parish (CYO, Eucharistic Ministry, Religious Education catechist, etc.) please call the school office and let us know.

Please note that parents/guardians/volunteers must have ALL of these requirements turned into the front office in order to begin your volunteering service.
